# Spetses

**Country:** Greece
**Water Body:** Aegean Sea; Mediterranean Sea; North Atlantic Ocean
**Harbor Size:** Very Small
**Harbor Type:** Open Roadstead
**GPS:** 37.2667, 23.1667

Spetses is served by fast passenger ferries rather than cargo vessels: in summer several high-speed boats a day arrive from Piraeus, alongside links to Hydra, Poros and the Peloponnese towns of Porto Heli and Ermioni. The island's new port handles these passengers, while the old harbour of Baltiza is reserved for yachts. Classified as an open roadstead with no usable cargo pier, Spetses manages no container, bulk or breakbulk traffic, and supplies reach the largely car-free island in small quantities by boat from the nearby mainland. Commercial sea freight for the area is routed through Piraeus, the closest full-service port.
