**Harbor Type:** Coastal (Breakwater)
**GPS:** 44.5000, -81.3833

Southampton (CA SON) should not be read as a commercial cargo port despite older descriptions to the contrary. The oldest harbour on the Bruce coast, it handled fishing and coastal trade in the nineteenth century but lost that function after the railway arrived in 1872. With about 1.8 m of water at the mouth of the Saugeen River on Lake Huron, it now serves recreational craft and fishing tugs rather than containers, bulk or customs traffic. Shippers should route Lake Huron cargo through Goderich, a significant salt-exporting port, or Owen Sound; Southampton's freight relevance is minimal.
