Crude oil, and crude oil only, moves across the berths at Sidi Kerir, the Mediterranean terminus of Egypt's SUMED pipeline some 27 kilometres west of Alexandria. Operated by the Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company, the facility has six offshore single-buoy mooring (SBM) berths capable of handling tankers up to 400,000 dwt, backed by 28 floating-roof tanks holding around 3.1 million m³ (roughly 19.5 million barrels) of storage.
