Some 42,000 m² of covered warehousing, more than 25 hectares of open storage, a dedicated bulk terminal and a 50-metre dry dock equip Shoreham Harbour (GB SHO) for diverse short-sea trades on the English Channel between Brighton and Worthing. Run as a trust port by the Shoreham Port Authority, it moves around 2 million tonnes a year across 600 to 900 commercial calls. Principal cargoes are timber and forest products, steel, aggregates, recycled glass, rock-wool, grain for export and petroleum products for regional distribution. It is not a container-line port: the focus is firmly on bulk and breakbulk, handled by heavy Sennebogen material handlers among other plant. Inland distribution runs via the A27/A259 coast roads with proximity to the London market. For containerised freight, Southampton and Portsmouth are the nearest gateways, while Newhaven offers further short-sea capacity.
