Halifax Port Authority subsidiary POSHA (a QSL company) operates Sheet Harbour, a bulk and project-cargo terminal on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore roughly 110 km from Halifax. The 152-metre wharf can accommodate vessels up to 214 metres and regularly handles wood pellets, wood chips, gypsum and aggregates alongside breakbulk such as steel girders, rails and heavy project freight including wind turbines, generators and transformers. There is no scheduled container service; the port instead functions as an overflow and intermediate call point for the larger Halifax gateway. Road access runs via Highways 224, 7 and 374 to the Trans-Canada Highway, with no rail connection on site. In recent years the terminal has built a track record handling wind-energy components as breakbulk cargo. For containerised shipments, Halifax remains the relevant alternative port.
