Where most UAE port entries mean container terminals, this one does not: the Sharjah Offshore Terminal, also recorded as Hamriyah Oil Terminal, is an open roadstead used for crude-oil loading rather than general or containerised cargo. Lying offshore Sharjah in the Persian Gulf, it historically served crude from the Mubarek field near Abu Musa, with tankers loading at anchor via offshore facilities. There is no container or breakbulk quay, and the roughly 11-metre anchorage depth reflects a tanker operation. For forwarders moving boxes, project cargo or RoRo, the terminal is not a usable option. The region's commercial gateways are instead Port Khalid and Hamriyah Port in Sharjah, Khor Fakkan on the east coast for transhipment, and Jebel Ali in Dubai.
