Operated by Pertamina Hulu Mahakam – which took over from Total and Inpex in 2018 – Senipah is the lifting point for crude oil and condensate from the Mahakam Block on the Makassar Strait in East Kalimantan. Working since 1977 and carrying the UN/LOCODE ID SZH, the terminal loads tankers through a single buoy mooring, handling on the order of 42,000 barrels a day of crude and condensate, including the light Senipah Condensate at about 52.7° API. This is a dedicated oil and condensate export facility, with no container or general-cargo capability. Its throughput comes from the offshore Mahakam fields and the onshore processing plant rather than from any road hinterland. Shippers needing boxes or breakbulk use Balikpapan (Semayang) or Samarinda. Senipah's relevance is strictly to the energy supply chain.
