Around 600 berths for vessels up to roughly 40 metres define Sciacca, a class III fishing and commercial harbour on Sicily's southern coast sheltered by two moles. The fleet based here remains one of the largest in Sicily, and the quays are equipped for it: slipways, fixed and mobile cranes, seven supply warehouses, machine shops and ice plants for fish preservation. A channel depth of about 4.5 metres confines traffic to smaller craft, and scheduled container, RoRo or liner services are not confirmed. Forwarders with containerised or customs-controlled freight therefore rely on Porto Empedocle, Trapani or Palermo. Sciacca's commercial roots reach back millennia, when the town traded actively with North Africa. For regional fishing logistics and modest coastal cargo, however, it stays a working port rather than a containerised gateway.
