Better known for the adjacent Soo Locks than for a commercial quay, Sault Ste Marie on the Canadian bank of the St. Marys River is essentially an industrial harbour built around Algoma Steel. The integrated steelworks takes in iron ore and taconite pellets shipped through the locks and dispatches finished steel across the Great Lakes.
