Principal cargoes are grain, minerals and steel; road and the Paraná river waterway connect the port to its hinterland. San Pedro is integrated into the Paraguay-Paraná waterway system, which moves bulk exports from the intensively farmed Buenos Aires region. Containerised shipments are better served by Buenos Aires or Zárate.
