Salina Cruz is first and foremost an energy and bulk harbour rather than a container gateway. On Mexico's Pacific coast in Oaxaca, the port is anchored by Pemex's Antonio Dovalí Jaime refinery and handles mainly petroleum products, alongside agricultural and mineral bulk and a limited volume of containers. For scheduled container traffic on Mexico's Pacific seaboard, Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas remain the established alternatives.
