Steel products, vehicles and liquefied natural gas headline the cargo mix at Sagunto, a Mediterranean port about 30 km north of Valencia and part of the Valenciaport system. Iron and steel account for roughly 70 % of throughput, complemented by RoRo car traffic over four ramps, fertilizers, construction materials, timber and perishables. Container work is mainly short-sea, handled by six ship-to-shore cranes alongside mobile cranes and reachstackers. The Saggas regasification terminal adds real weight, with four tanks of 600,000 m³ and around 3 million tonnes of gas moved each year. Road and rail links connect the industrial zone to Madrid and the wider Spanish hinterland. For large deepsea container volumes, neighbouring Valencia remains the primary gateway.
