Opened in 2006 as Estonia's dedicated island cruise harbour, Saaremaa sadam on the north coast of Saaremaa marked its 20th anniversary in 2026 and remains firmly a passenger gateway. Run by the Port of Tallinn, it offers two quays with around 10 m of natural depth, able to take the largest cruise ships operating in the Baltic, with 11 calls and over 7,000 passengers booked for the 2026 season. Cargo vessels and pleasure craft call only occasionally, and there is no regular freight or container business. Its relevance to forwarders is therefore limited. Commercial cargo is better routed through Muuga near Tallinn, with Roomassaare serving local island needs.
