Alumina is the cargo that defines this port on Jamaica's southern coast: operator Jamalco ships the output of its Halse Hall refinery in Clarendon through the Rocky Point pier. Loadings of alumina are matched by inbound fuel oil, caustic soda and heavy plant, with throughput of roughly 1.43 million tonnes a year.
