Ras Al Mishab (SA RAM) is best understood as a military supply port rather than a commercial gateway: it primarily serves King Khalid Military City near Hafr al-Batin, roughly 500 km inland. US forces used the facility during the 1990–91 Gulf War, and the complex also includes a small military airfield. Technically the port can handle containerised, bulk and break-bulk cargo, but operations are largely governmental and not geared to open commercial trade. For ordinary shippers, commercial cargo relevance is therefore limited and access is restricted. Connections run via coastal and military roads toward Hafr al-Batin, with no regular liner or container service. Anyone needing open container, bulk or project capacity is far better served by Jubail or Dammam.
