Brest (FR BES) is a large harbour by basin size but a modest one by container volume: roughly 24,000 TEU crossed its quays in 2025, down about 20 percent on the year, out of total traffic near 2.65 million tonnes. It remains Brittany's leading box port yet a minor player in global container traffic. Customs and standard import-export handling are available, but containerised supply chains are thin compared with France's main gateways. For pure container shipments, Montoir-de-Bretagne (Nantes-Saint-Nazaire) or Le Havre are the practical alternatives.
