Soybeans, wheat bound largely for Brazil, maize, sunflower-seed pellets and vegetable oil are the cargoes that define Quequén (AR QQN), the deep-water agribulk port at the mouth of the Quequén Grande river beside Necochea in Buenos Aires province. It handled around 12% of Argentina's grain exports in 2024 and set an all-time record of about 9.01 million tonnes in 2025, ranking as the country's second-largest grain complex after Rosario. Roughly thirteen berths line the two banks, Quequén and Necochea, served by grain elevators and storage. Following completion of dredging to 50 feet, Quequén is now the deepest port in Argentina, able to fully load large Panamax vessels. The hinterland is the southern Pampas cropping belt, linked by road and rail, while project cargo for the Vaca Muerta energy basin is an emerging line. Container and general-cargo services are effectively absent, so shippers needing those route via Bahía Blanca to the south or the up-river terminals on the Paraná.
