Three liquefaction trains and a nameplate capacity of about 10.4 million tonnes a year define Qalhat, the LNG export terminal operated by Oman LNG near the town of Sur. Liquefied natural gas and NGL condensate are loaded from two T-jetties reaching roughly 430 metres into the Gulf of Oman, some 75 nautical miles south-east of Muscat. The LNG berth handles tankers up to 310 metres long, around 12.1 metres draught and 125,000 dwt, working a little over 120 vessels each year. There is no container, breakbulk or conventional customs handling for trade cargo here; the site is dedicated to gas export, with a fourth train of about 3.8 million tonnes planned to add capacity. Forwarders with general or containerised freight for eastern Oman route via Sohar or Salalah, while the nearby Sur town port covers local needs.
