At the Primera Angostura, the narrowest pinch of the Strait of Magellan, a stream of trucks and cars rolls onto the ferry ramp at Punta Delgada bound for Tierra del Fuego. This is the mainland landing of a roll-on/roll-off vehicle ferry operated by Transbordadora Austral Broom (TABSA), which crosses to Bahía Azul/Punta Espora several times a day in about 30 minutes. The service carries vehicles — trucks, tankers and cars — rather than containers or bulk worked over a conventional quay. For forwarders it functions as a road-freight crossing that keeps Tierra del Fuego's oil, gas and sheep-farming operations supplied, not as a sea-cargo terminal. No container, customs or breakbulk handling takes place here. For the region's sea and container freight, Punta Arenas and the Cabo Negro terminal are the relevant ports.
