The box terminal you might expect behind a Singapore UN/LOCODE does not exist here: SGPUB belongs to Pulau Bukom, the city-state's refinery island. Since 2025 the site has been run by Aster — the former Shell Energy and Chemicals Park — after the CAPGC joint venture of Chandra Asri and Glencore acquired it. On roughly 1.45 km² about five to six kilometres southwest of mainland Singapore, it operates a refinery with a crude distillation capacity of around 237,000 barrels per day and an ethylene cracker of about 1.1 million tonnes a year. Its marine terminal offers around 13 jetties plus a single buoy mooring able to serve the largest crude tankers, handling crude oil, refined petroleum products and petrochemical liquids — never containers. Access is industrial: supply craft and undersea pipelines, with no public road or rail hinterland. For containerised or breakbulk cargo in Singapore, the PSA terminals at Pasir Panjang and the new mega-terminal at Tuas are the relevant calls. Pulau Bukom is best understood as a dedicated energy and tanker port with limited relevance to general freight forwarding.
