Lying about 180 km off the Angolan coast, the PSVM terminal is a floating production unit (FPSO) serving the deepwater Plutão, Saturno, Vênus and Marte fields in Block 31, in water depths of 1,500–2,500 m. The vessel processes crude oil and stores it on board — capacity around 1.8 million barrels — before offloading to shuttle tankers at an open roadstead. The only commodity handled is crude oil; there are no container, breakbulk or RoRo facilities, no import customs clearance and no hinterland or road links. Converted from a VLCC and operated under BP's lead (now Azule Energy), PSVM ranks among Africa's largest deepwater oil developments. Conventional general-cargo and container freight for Angola moves through Luanda and the Port of Lobito.
