Nine deep-water berths, depths to 18.2 metres and a tank farm of eighteen 50,000-tonne tanks equip Primorsk as Russia's largest oil export terminal on the Baltic Sea. Sitting at the end of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS-1, around 76.5 million tonnes of annual pipeline capacity), the port moves roughly 58 to 60 million tonnes of crude oil and petroleum products a year. The berths, reserved mostly for tankers, accommodate vessels up to about 150,000 tonnes deadweight and over 300 metres in length. No containers, break-bulk or conventional forwarding cargo are handled here; this is purely an energy and liquid-bulk terminal. Sanctions and price-cap measures on Russian oil in force since 2022 materially constrain chartering, insurance and payment flows.
