Preveza works best as a regional inlet for agricultural and conventional cargo rather than as a container gateway. Set at the mouth of the Amvrakikos Gulf in Epirus, the harbour imports soya, maize, animal feed, fertilisers, iron, timber and oil for the surrounding region. Four piers with depths to around 13 metres handle only about 200 vessels a year, supplemented by a fishing shelter and a marina of roughly 300 berths. Scheduled container or liner services are not confirmed, and traffic is mostly break-bulk and agribulk. For Ro-Ro and ferry links to Italy, nearby Igoumenitsa (GR IGO) is the relevant port, while container freight routes through Patras (GR GPA).
