Few ports in the world are as single-minded as Portocel: this privately run terminal at Aracruz, in Brazil's Espírito Santo state, was built around one commodity — market pulp. Controlled by Suzano and Cenibra, it ships eucalyptus cellulose for producers including Suzano, Cenibra, Veracel and LD Celulose, moving more than 6 million tonnes of pulp in 2023 against an annual capacity near 7.5 million tonnes. The pulp travels as baled breakbulk rather than in containers, while project cargo, steel products, vehicles and — since a 2023 storage expansion — fertilisers and coffee round out the mix. Dredging has cleared the terminal to receive larger vessels, sharpening its edge in South Atlantic export logistics. Road and dedicated rail link the quays directly to the inland pulp mills. Containerised cargo for the region typically moves through nearby Vitória and Vila Velha.
