**Country:** Chile
**Water Body:** South Pacific Ocean
**Harbor Size:** Very Small
**Harbor Type:** Coastal (Natural)

Named for the Spanish colony founded here in 1584 whose settlers largely starved, Puerto del Hambre — Port Famine — sits on the Strait of Magellan as a Chilean national monument. The bay, about 58 km south of Punta Arenas, offers sheltered anchorage but serves no commercial cargo function, and the archaeological site is closed to the public. There is no container, breakbulk or customs handling of any kind. Forwarders operating in the Magallanes region clear all sea freight through Punta Arenas.
