Listed under UN/LOCODE UA OCT, the Specialized Seaport Olvia — known until 2016 as Oktyabrsk — sits on the left bank of the Dnieper-Bug estuary near Mykolaiv. It is a general-cargo and metals terminal handling steel coils and bundles, plates, project and heavy-lift consignments, boxes, pallets and containers, but no liquid bulk; in peacetime it moved roughly 700,000 tonnes of import and export cargo a year across berths of about 9.4 m depth. Rail and road link the quays to the Ukrainian network, and since 2021 Qatar's QTerminals has run the port under concession. Following Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, however, the Mykolaiv ports including Olvia have been blockaded and commercial calls suspended, with any reopening tied to Black Sea security. Forwarders should therefore route shipments via Chornomorsk, Odesa or Pivdennyi for the time being, subject to availability.
