Roughly 2.3 million tonnes of cargo a year pass through the Port of Nador, officially sited at Beni Ensar on Morocco's Mediterranean Rif coast. It is a multi-purpose harbour combining general cargo, dry bulk, hydrocarbons, fishing and a busy ferry trade. The goods terminal offers 700 m of deep-water quay at 13 m alongside a further 300 m at 10 m, while a bulk terminal takes ore and steel billets for the nearby SONASID steelworks. Ferries run to Spain (Almería, Motril, Barcelona) and France (Sète), and the port shares its entrance with the Spanish enclave of Melilla. Container volumes are limited; for container transshipment and larger box flows the adjacent deep-water Nador West Med port and Tanger Med are the main alternatives. Inland links run by road and the ONCF rail line toward Taourirt and Oujda.
