# Port Menier

**Country:** Canada
**Water Body:** Gulf of Saint Lawrence; North Atlantic Ocean
**GPS:** 49.8167, -64.3500

The seasonal ferry M/V Bella Desgagnés is the only maritime freight and passenger link to Port-Menier, a small village on the southwestern tip of Anticosti Island in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, Quebec. Founded in the late 19th century by French chocolate manufacturer Henri Menier, the settlement remains the island's sole population centre. Running from April to January between Rimouski and Blanc-Sablon via stops such as Sept-Îles and Havre-Saint-Pierre, the Relais Nordik service supplies passengers and essential cargo to otherwise isolated North Shore communities. Port-Menier has no container, bulk or breakbulk handling infrastructure; the nearest commercial cargo port is Sept-Îles on the mainland.
