Roughly 100 vessels and more than 2.25 million tonnes of cargo move across this single-commodity bulk terminal each year. Set in St. Elizabeth about 87 km west of Kingston, Port Kaiser was built by Kaiser Aluminum for the Alpart alumina refinery and is today operated under China's JISCO group. Its main pier (around 11.5 m alongside) loads alumina and bauxite for export and discharges fuel oil, sulphuric acid and grain for the plant. There is no container, breakbulk or scheduled liner-customs service here; the port exists purely for bauxite-alumina flows. Hinterland links are private haul roads to the mine rather than public rail. Forwarders handling containers or general cargo for Jamaica use Kingston, while nearby alumina volumes also move through Port Esquivel.
