With a log yard moving roughly 60 million board-feet of timber a year, Port Angeles is the forest-products gateway of Washington's Olympic Peninsula on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Three deep-water terminals (T-1, T-3 and T-7) handle outbound logs, lumber, pulp, paper and wood chips bound for Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan and India, alongside inbound pulp, chemicals and petroleum products. The terminals also take heavy-lift and project cargo, and an adjacent Marine Trades Industrial Park with a 300-ton travel lift supports vessel servicing. Container moves are possible but marginal — this is a breakbulk and forest-products port, not a liner container terminal. Hinterland distribution runs mainly by road, with logs from Alaska and Canada feeding in by sea. For containerised freight, the Northwest Seaport Alliance terminals at Tacoma and Seattle are the practical alternative, with Grays Harbor as a further breakbulk option.
