Licensed to load around 25,000 barrels of propane a day, the Pembina Pipeline terminal on Watson Island is the main commercial cargo operation at Porpoise Harbour, transferring rail-delivered LPG onto tankers. The harbour lies on the Tsimpsean Peninsula near the mouth of the Skeena River, about 15 km south-east of Prince Rupert in British Columbia, and has no UN/LOCODE of its own. Beyond LPG, activity is dominated by fishing and fish processing, with the Port Edward Harbour Authority managing commercial fishing harbours at the community of Port Edward. Containers, dry bulk and liner services do not run through this basin but through the major terminals at Prince Rupert. Shippers use the DP World Fairview container terminal and Ridley Island for coal and grain. Road and CN's rail line connect the area to the North American hinterland.
