Forty offshore turbines of 15-20 megawatts each are planned for 2027-2029 construction off Tahkoluoto, and Pori (FI POR) has positioned itself as the pre-assembly and logistics hub for the project. Enersense already manufactures technically demanding turbine foundations at the Mäntyluoto port area, and together with Suomen Hyötytuuli the port is building a new gravel-loading quay at Tahkoluoto specifically to support foundation construction. Work is also under way on the Kallonlahti 2 quay and a new liquid-bulk berth at Tahkoluoto; shore power becomes available at berths 29 and 30 during 2026, complemented by a solar installation on berth 29's rear plot expected to generate roughly 860 MWh a year. Beyond wind energy, the port's traditional cargo mix continues: sawn timber, project and heavy-lift cargo, dry bulk and RoRo through Mäntyluoto, and bulk liquids and chemicals through Tahkoluoto, with annual bulk throughput around 1.5 million tonnes. Container traffic remains limited; shippers needing scheduled container services typically turn to nearby Rauma or Helsinki-Vuosaari.
