Serving western Finland's heavy industry, Pori (FI POR) on the Gulf of Bothnia specialises in sawn timber, project cargo and offshore-wind components rather than containers. Its Mäntyluoto terminal handles sawn timber, breakbulk, dry bulk and RoRo, while the Tahkoluoto deep harbour takes bulk carriers and tankers at drafts up to 15 m. Mobile cranes lifting up to 300 tonnes, including an LHM 550 added in 2020, suit heavy-lift and plant shipments. Tahkoluoto also handles liquid bulk and chemicals, with annual bulk throughput around 1.5 million tonnes. In early 2025 Tahkoluoto Offshore, the port and the City of Pori signed a letter of intent designating a roughly 50-hectare site at Mäntyluoto as the Pori Offshore Wind Hub and pre-assembly base for the planned Tahkoluoto wind-farm extension, with a new RoRo ramp completed in late 2024. Container traffic is limited and routed through Mäntyluoto; Pori should not be treated as a container gateway. Rail and road link the port to Finnish industry, while shippers needing scheduled container services usually turn to nearby Rauma or Helsinki-Vuosaari.
