An S-shaped breakwater roughly 2,650 m long shelters the berths at Porbandar (IN PBD), a multipurpose minor port on the Saurashtra coast of Gujarat run by the Gujarat Maritime Board. Declared an all-weather direct-berthing port, it works mainly breakbulk, dry bulk and reefer cargo with three multipurpose cranes (12.5–75 t) and around 20,080 m² of covered storage; it is not a container gateway. Imports centre on low-ash coke, fertilisers and scrap, while exports include bauxite, cement, sesame seeds, cotton bales and mineral products. Throughput runs near 2 million tonnes and about 100 vessels a year, having reached 1.46 million tonnes in 2021 against a 2008 peak of 3.5 million tonnes. Road and rail link the quays to the Saurashtra hinterland. Shippers needing container services or larger parcels route via Mundra, Deendayal (Kandla) or Pipavav.
