Rated as the largest port facility on Mindanao, Polloc handles dry bulk, breakbulk and containerised cargo across two transit sheds totalling about 11,960 m² and some 42,940 m² of open storage. Because the quay has no shore container cranes, boxes are worked with ships' gear. Built with ADB funding in 1977 and opened in 1980, the port now sits within the Polloc Freeport and Ecozone and is run by the BARMM Regional Economic Zone Authority, with Bangsamoro Terminal Services holding the arrastre and stevedoring contract. Customs is cleared through the Bureau of Customs in Cotabato City. The port gives seaborne access to central Mindanao, including the landlocked provinces of North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat and parts of Lanao del Sur. For scheduled container and deep-sea services, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and General Santos are the stronger options.
