Four liquefaction trains and a nameplate capacity of about 15 million tonnes of LNG per year define Point Fortin, an energy port on Trinidad's south-western coast. Its two 700-metre jetties each handle LNG carriers of around 171,000 m³, operated through the Atlantic LNG joint venture. The cargo profile is almost exclusively liquefied natural gas; the terminal does not process containers, general breakbulk or RoRo traffic. Train 1 has been idled since 2020 because of declining domestic gas supply, which constrains export volumes. Ownership has been unified across the trains, with Shell holding 47.15%, BP 42.85% and the state-owned NGC 10%. Forwarders with containerised or project cargo should route via Port of Spain or the industrial port of Point Lisas instead.
