Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos, a concession held by Yilport (Tertir) and DP World, runs Paita (PE PAI), the container gateway of northern Peru and the country's second-busiest box port after Callao. 2025 was its strongest year on record: 414,639 TEU, about 3.4 million tonnes of cargo and 669 vessel calls, roughly a tenth of all Peruvian freight traffic. Paita also ranks first in Peru for refrigerated container handling, and around 49 percent of the country's agricultural exports moved through it in 2025. Fresh table grapes alone accounted for more than 38,000 TEU and close to half of Peru's blueberry exports shipped from here, alongside avocados, organic bananas, mangoes, frozen and canned fish, fishmeal and containerised shrimp. Extensive reefer plug-in capacity supports these perishables on a 142,000 m² site in the Piura region, with further areas for breakbulk and bulk commodities such as phosphate rock and cotton. A quay depth of around 14 m lets modern container vessels berth and work cargo. Hinterland access runs via a 56 km paved highway to Piura and onward along the Pan-American Highway, with no rail link, while customs clearance goes through Peru's SUNAT authority. A direct service to the United States launched in November 2024 has strengthened exports of organic bananas, blueberries, avocado and shrimp; shippers needing alternatives route through Callao near Lima, or Bayóvar for phosphate bulk.
