Yilport Oslo runs the Sjursøya terminal that clears most of south-east Norway's containers: 262,530 TEU crossed the quays of Oslo (NO OSL) in 2025, up roughly 10% year on year. The Lo-Lo facility works four ship-to-shore cranes, eleven RTGs and a mobile crane, and is rated for up to 400,000 TEU a year. Beyond boxes the port moved about 5.4 million tonnes of sea cargo in 2024 — RoRo, general cargo, construction materials, petroleum products and project loads. Container volumes arrive on short-sea and feeder services operated by CMA CGM, Unifeeder and others, with intercontinental cargo transhipped at Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Rotterdam. Norway belongs to the EEA but not to the EU customs union, so every consignment needs an import or export declaration to Tolletaten, with duty and VAT settled at the border. Motorway and rail links serve the Oslo, Drammen and Østland hinterland; Drammen and Larvik are the practical alternative ports. From 2026, vessels arriving emission-free are exempt from quay fees; North Sea Container Line (NCL) launched in February 2026 the weekly Oslo–Brevik–Rotterdam–Bremerhaven service — the ammonia-fuelled container ship Yara Eyde is set to join the route later in 2026 — and Viasea added new Baltic, UK and Benelux connections in May 2026. Oslo is also Norway's busiest passenger port, handling some 7.7 million ferry, local-service and cruise travellers a year.
