Minerals, cereals, hydrocarbons, chemical products, steel semi-finished goods and machinery make up the traffic of the Oristano-Santa Giusta industrial port on Sardinia's west coast — one of the island's main bulk outlets and a strategic hub in Sardinia's maritime three-year plan 2026–2028. Across roughly 1,600 metres of quay it handled about 1.3 million tonnes of dry and liquid bulk in 2024. The port is being developed into an LNG energy hub: a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) is being installed in the Santa Giusta port area, which will serve the western Mediterranean, alongside a new agro-food logistics service centre at the quays. Container line services are effectively absent; this is a bulk and industrial-cargo port. Generous marshalling areas behind the quays ease the handling of large bulk parcels. Road links connect it to western Sardinia's hinterland. For containers and ferries, forwarders use Cagliari's Porto Canale, with Porto Torres the nearest northern alternative.
