Unlike a deepwater cargo berth, Orcas (US XJY) is the Washington State Ferries landing serving Orcas Island in the San Juan archipelago — not, as some records suggest, an Alaskan port. Scheduled vehicle-and-passenger ferries link the terminal, known locally as The Landing, to Anacortes on the mainland and to neighbouring Lopez, Shaw and San Juan islands. The site has no container, bulk or customs facilities, and its pier is very shallow at roughly 1.8 metres. Goods reach the island almost entirely as accompanied freight aboard the ferries. Shippers with commercial cargo should work through Anacortes or the ports of Seattle and Tacoma.
