Operated by the Orange County Navigation and Port District, the Port of Orange sits on the Sabine River about half a mile from the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and 37 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, with 24-hour channel and dock access. Its cargo base is breakbulk and project work — forest products, iron and steel, dry bulk, bagged and baled goods, and project or military cargo — rather than container liner traffic.
