Offshore wind components, project cargo and heavy lift are the core trade of Lindø Port of Odense, rather than containers or general liner freight. Denmark's largest port by area at roughly 6.4 million m², it grew out of the former Lindø shipyard and is equipped with an LHM 800 crane (308-tonne capacity, hook height about 97 m) and a heavy-load area rated up to 105,000 tonnes on a 375 m quay. Water depth at the Lindø quay reaches up to 11 m, allowing load-out of complete steel structures, while the inner city port is reached via the shallower Odense Canal at around 6.4 m. After a record 2025, the port plans an expansion of around 1 million m² to scale up wind-component handling. Esbjerg remains Denmark's leading hub for oil, gas and offshore work, with Aalborg a further option for project cargo.
