Scrap and steel, dry and liquid bulk, RoRo traffic and project cargo make up the core business of Nyborg, an industrial port on the east coast of Funen beside the Great Belt. Run by Associated Danish Ports (ADP), it also handles general cargo and a modest container trade. As the central base for one of the world's largest tar-distillation operations, the port offers dedicated facilities for liquid industrial products. Quay depths are limited at around 4.9 m on the cargo pier, so deeper bulk carriers tend to use the sister port of Fredericia. Road and rail link the terminal to the Danish and continental hinterland via the Funen crossing. Aarhus suits container-heavy shipments, while Fredericia handles oil and larger bulk parcels.
