The North Pulau Laut Coal Terminal (NPLCT) off South Kalimantan is not a multipurpose port but a dedicated coal export facility run by miner Arutmin. From a Makassar Strait roadstead with around 17 m of water it loads thermal coal from Arutmin's mines (Senakin, Satui, Batulicin and others) into bulk carriers up to Capesize, at about 1.1 million tonnes per month with a 600,000-tonne stockpile; group output was 19.5 million tonnes in 2024. It handles no containers, general cargo or third-party customs clearance, and is fed by mine conveyors and self-unloaders rather than a public hinterland road network. Forwarders moving general or containerised freight in the region should use Banjarmasin or Surabaya. For dry-bulk coal charters, however, NPLCT is an established, Capesize-capable loading point.
