SE NOT marks Norrsundet, for decades the dedicated mill harbour of Stora Enso's pulp plant on the Gulf of Bothnia, about 25 km north of Gävle. The mill's closure (announced 2007, completed 2008) removed the port's industrial base; it remains listed in the Gävle pilot district but now handles only occasional forest-product or project cargo. With a cargo-pier depth of roughly 3-4 m, vessel size is sharply limited. Forwarders needing container, customs or regular breakbulk service should use Gävle, which offers rail and road links inland.
