# Nonopapa

Once the only commercial shipping point on the privately owned "Forbidden Island" of Niihau, Nonopapa Landing handled cattle, sheep, wool and honey that were lightered out to Inter-Island Steam Navigation Co. steamers by whaleboat. The west-coast site had no more than a small dock and a loading derrick, and it retains no modern terminals, customs clearance or scheduled cargo service. With Niihau closed to the public and privately held, Nonopapa today has only very limited freight relevance. Commercial and containerised shipments for the area move through Nawiliwili or Port Allen on neighbouring Kauai.
