New London (LOCODE: US NLO) is the leading offshore wind assembly hub on the US East Coast. Its State Pier — the only active East Coast offshore wind marshalling terminal with unobstructed ocean access — has attracted over USD 311 million in public and private investment. Approximately 160 turbines for South Fork Wind, Revolution Wind, and Sunrise Wind (combined capacity exceeding 1,760 MW) have been assembled and dispatched from the terminal; Revolution Wind has been delivering power to the grid since March 2026 and was more than 95 % complete as of August 2026 (61 of 65 turbines installed), with full commercial operation expected by end of 2026. Sunrise Wind (924 MW, New York) is also staging at State Pier and is expected to complete in 2027; the Connecticut Port Authority is exploring follow-on leases for additional wind projects. The heavy-lift apron carries 24 t/m². The port also handles breakbulk cargo including steel, timber, and copper. No container liner services are available; the nearest general-cargo hub is Providence (RI).
