Grain, animal feed, biomass, agribulks, aggregates and industrial minerals make up the working cargo of New Holland, a dry-bulk port on the south bank of the Humber in North Lincolnshire. Its small tidal dock dates from about 1848, when the railway arrived, and the riverfront has handled bulk imports and exports since the early 1980s. New Holland Bulk Services has run a grain and feed business here since 1984, alongside the Peel Ports–operated Humber Bulk Terminal. Trade routes reach Scandinavia, mainland Europe, the Black Sea and North Africa. Rail access, inherited from the former Hull ferry pier, complements road links into the Lincolnshire and Yorkshire hinterland. This is not a container or general-liner port; for boxed traffic and larger volumes, the deep-water terminals at Immingham and Hull lie close by.
