A naval base, a federal-police berth, the municipal harbour and Germany's largest Baltic marina share the waterfront at Neustadt in Holstein, on the Bay of Lübeck. The town still hosts Germany's oldest fishermen's guild, dating from 1474, with fresh fish sold directly at the harbour several days a week. With a quay of around 4.9 m, the port serves fishing, naval and leisure use — the ancora Marina alone offers about 1,400 berths — rather than liner, container or RoRo traffic.
