Operated by Adani Ports (APSEZ), Mundra is India's busiest cargo port and a leading container gateway on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat. Its five container terminals span twelve berths with capacity near 8 million TEU, and the port handled about 6.64 million TEU in FY23. Water depths supporting drafts beyond 16 m let Mundra take the largest ships to call in India, including the 19,200-TEU MSC Anna, which no other Indian port can berth. Beyond boxes it moves coal, crude oil, liquids and dry bulk, with an adjoining Special Economic Zone tying industry to logistics. Hinterland reach into north and north-west India runs by road and the Dedicated Freight Corridor, which feeds container block trains inland. On-site customs and SEZ clearance draw importers and exporters across the Gujarat corridor. For forwarders, Mundra is the principal gateway for western and northern India, with Nhava Sheva (JNPT) near Mumbai and Pipavav as alternatives.
