Coded ES MOT, the Port of Motril is the maritime outlet of Granada province on Spain's Andalusian coast. In 2023 it handled about 2.55 million tonnes, up nearly 19% on the back of general cargo and solid bulk. A dedicated bulk dock opened in 1994, while the enlarged Azucenas quay added ro-ro capacity; cement, agribulk, breakbulk and a limited container flow move across its berths, which take drafts of up to roughly 14 metres. ROPAX ferries link Motril with Melilla, Nador, Al Hoceima and Tanger-Med. Hinterland access runs inland via the A-44 to Granada and along the A-7 Mediterranean corridor. For large container volumes, Almería, Málaga and Algeciras remain the stronger options.
